Body Liposuction
Dr. Martini has been performing liposuction for over 20 years and his technique has evolved as the science, art and technology of liposuction has advanced. Modern liposuction has much faster recovery time than previous techniques, is less invasive and employs a more precise, gentler instrumentation. Laser technology is one of the innovations that Dr. Martini has incorporated into his body contouring technique that allows him to achieve optimal results for his patients. He initiates the treatment with laser to loosen the fat and enable precise sculpting of the abdomen, flanks, back, and inner and outer thighs. The use of the laser in conjunction with liposuction also stimulates the skin to contract and re-drape more effectively to give a smoother result.
Laser-assisted tumescent liposuction is the less invasive procedure for the removal of fat that Dr. Martini employs. This technology involves a laser that liquefies fat and coagulates blood vessels for less bleeding, swelling and bruising while causing the skin to tighten and re-drape into your new contour. This procedure has a much quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction and is minimally invasive, meaning that it can be performed under local anesthesia or sedation rather than general anesthesia. The procedure is very safe and recovery time is short. Usually only a day or two of rest is required. Discomfort is minimal and can be managed with pain medication. Dr. Martini may recommend that you wear compression garments to minimize any swelling that may occur.
With laser-assisted lipo, in areas such as “love handles”, the abdomen, inner and outer thighs or possibly the “bra bulge” on the back, local anesthesia is placed in the fatty tissue just below the skin. When the patient is comfortable, tiny entrance incisions are made and the laser liquefies the fat so a small wand can be used to suction out the liquid tissue. The laser uses a wavelength specifically targeted to melt fat and break up fibrous bands while causing the skin to tighten.
It is important to know that this procedure is not for weight loss. It is designed to be used on stubborn pockets of fat that despite proper diet and exercise, just do not want to respond. Certain patients may require treatment of excess skin using abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) which can also be discussed at the time of consultation.
