A purified protein that, through a series of small injections, blocks the chemical that causes facial muscles to contract. Overactive facial muscles cause lines between the brows, across the forehead and around the eyes, and over time, as the elasticity decreases in the skin, those lines remain. DYSPORTâ„¢ - the newest available botulinum toxin type A

Dysport™ is a prescription medicine that is injected into the muscles and used esthetically to improve the look of moderate to serve frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults as a temporary correction (average 12-16 weeks). Frown lines and wrinkles happen because the muscles that control facial expression are used often. After Dysport™ (alternative is BOTOX® Cosmetic) is injected into the muscles that control facial expression, the medicine stops the tightening of these muscles allowing them to relax for up to 3-4 months. Use of Dysport is contraindicated if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Dysport™, are allergic to cow’s milk protein, have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product (i.e. – Myobloc® or BOTOX® Cosmetic) or have a skin infection at the planned injection site. The dose of DYSPORT™ is not the same as the dose of any other botulinum toxin product – i.e.) 1 unit of BOTOX® Cosmetic = minimum 2.5 units of DYSPORT™
