Blepharoplasty for Men in Wilmington and Dover, DE
Located in Elkton, MD and Dover, DE, and serving the residents of Maryland, and Wilmington and Newark, Delaware, Replenish Cosmetic Surgery Institute offers eyelid surgery for men who desire plastic surgery.
Your eyes are a major focal point on your face, and over time, the effects of the sun and the aging process can cause your eyelids to accumulate excess fat, wrinkles and folds, and appear to droop. Eyelid surgery for men, also known as blepharoplasty, can help to restore a younger and less weathered image. The masculine features of the male face differ than that of women, and Dr. Martini has the expertise in men’s plastic surgery to restore a healthful, handsome appearance to your eyes. This procedure can be done as a stand-alone surgery or in combination with other facial enhancements to achieve stronger results.

Eyelid Surgery for Men Preparation and Consultation
There are a few things you can keep in mind in order to reduce scarring, shorten your recovery time, and decrease your chances of complications. Discontinue using aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, Saint John’s wort, and Vitamin E for one week before and a few days after your procedure. These act as blood thinners and could cause problems with clotting. Stop smoking and drinking alcohol in excess well in advance of your eyelid surgery and for one week following surgery. Be sure to drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your procedure, as remaining well-hydrated will help you to recover more quickly.
To keep your recovery as easy and comfortable as possible, be sure to follow these guidelines:
- Arrange for someone to take you home and take care of you for at least the first 24 hours.
- Fill your prescriptions prior to surgery.
- Place prescriptions within easy reach of where you will be resting.
- Keep handy plenty of pillows or a bed wedge in a nearby location so that you can keep your head elevated.
Eyelid Surgery for Men Recovery
The recovery process is different for each patient, but within a day of your eyelid surgery you should be up and walking around. Keep your head elevated for two weeks following surgery. You may also apply small ice packs within the first 24 hours to help reduce swelling and discomfort. For the first day or so you may notice some tearing of the eyes, light sensitivity, and blurred vision. You should clean your eyes carefully for the first two weeks and keep your sutures clear of blood and crust. Eye drops may be used if your eyes feel unusually dry.
You should be able to perform normal visual tasks like watching TV soon after surgery, but you should avoid wearing contacts until you are permitted by the doctor. For the first week, you should plan on being out of work and away from your usual activities. Following this period, you may gradually return to activities such as exercise, lifting, and sex. Avoid high impact activities for about one month and be sure to stay away from saunas, as the steam can affect healing. Though the appearance of bruising will fade gradually, you may notice some remaining bruises for as long as a month after surgery. Special camouflage makeup can be used to conceal this.
These precautions will help you avoid stress to your scars and allow time for your facial tissues to heal and recover. Because the incisions used during surgery are small and hidden within the creases of the eyelids, any scarring is usually minimal or unnoticeable. The appearance of your eye area should markedly improve over a period of several months. Should you decide to move forward with your procedure, a date for your eyelid surgery will be scheduled. Prior to surgery, you will be given complete preparation and recovery instructions. Remember to keep up with your follow-up visits, as we are here to help make this a positive, life-changing experience for you.
